5 Ways To Celebrate Small Wins

Financial freedom doesn’t happen overnight. That’s why it’s important to track progress and celebrate every win, no matter how small. For example, did you finally sit down and create that budget? What about keeping to it for the month? Save more than expected? Any of the above is awesome! Now how should you celebrate?

Here are some ideas for recognizing even the smallest of money milestones along your financial journey:

  • Journal about it: Keep a scrapbook or something that documents your growth. You can refer to this as part of your financial story.
  • Make a card: Handwrite a ‘thank you’ card to yourself or your financial accountability buddy, especially if this person helped you stay on top of your goals.
  • Plan a party: Even if it’s a night in with a homemade meal, make the ordinary a little extra with a special ingredient or bevvy.
  • Incremental wins: Reward every incremental win with a bigger celebration. Instead, every 5 wins you get a meal out, or every 10 wins you get to splurge on a new clothing item.
  • Reward yourself first: Remember, what makes you feel happy and recognized is what matters when it comes to rewarding yourself first. That means it’s what works for you!

Try to find a way to celebrate every financial win with your interest top of mind. Your progress matters most to you – and recognizing how far you’ve come can be just as impactful as accomplishing the goal at the end of it all. Have fun with it!
