Feeling More 'Money’ Confident

It's the most wonderful time of the year – and arguably, the most stressful, too. Finding the time to budget, save, and worry less? Not an easy task on the to-do list. To help you catch a break and build up your money confidence, let’s look at three ways you can manage financial strain a little better this season and all year round:

1. Get familiar. This means diving into the details of your dough. It could be a Sunday morning sorting through expenses, looking at your bank statements, and writing down your income, debts, spending, and focus areas for each month. What ‘is’ making you feel stressed? Being financially familiar helps alleviate stress related to the unknown.

2. Make small moves. With little changes over time, it’s possible to build better money habits that make a big impact on your finances. For example, if you struggle with impulse spending, try keeping your credit card in a hard-to-reach place. If you’re missing payments, try setting an alarm to remind you when the payment is due, or consider overdraft protection.

3. Get a coach. Doing something about your financial anxiety will help you feel more confident about where you’re at. If you’re looking for a guide at your side, a coach may be the next step on your financial freedom journey (ours are free). These certified experts are like therapists or physical trainers – there to keep you close to your mental, physical, and financial goals.

Remember, big changes usually don’t happen overnight. Be easy on yourself as you move away from bad money habits that contribute to your financial anxiety. It’s your time to shine, not stress!
