5 Money-Saving Habits To Boost Your Well-Being
The ultimate win-win? Earning and saving money – at the same time. Tried and new, these money moves are sure to help you boost your overall well-being, all while contributing to savings goals, too.
1. Dine in more often. Learn new recipes to make from the comfort of your own kitchen, discover different food benefits to help you feel your best, and maybe even get wrapped up in a whole new hobby! Like baking sourdough bread or pickling. Whatever you choose, enjoy saving money while you do it. Assuming you don’t blow your cash on that new hobby, of course.
2. Cancel old subscriptions and set up autopay. Want to save time and money? Take a moment every couple of months to review subscriptions and cancel those you don’t use anymore. Then, try setting up the autopay function for bills and recurring payments you do need. Remember to be your own auditor when it comes to reviewing these statements, though – even professionals can make mistakes!
3. Choose to walk. Walking has many different health benefits; It can improve heart health, reduce stress, and boost self-esteem, just to name a few. Whether it’s driving or ride sharing, try cutting out the means to your destination. Though it may force you to slow down – an unexpected detour, more red lights than planned, maybe you stop and pet a dog – you'll save money and earn long-term health benefits, too.
4. Show off your crafts. If you have a passion for creating handmade products, you may be able to make a little extra money selling on Etsy, Handmade Amazon, or Facebook Marketplace. Expressing your creativity can be a form of meditation, self-reflection, and so much more. Fulfill your personal passions and see if you can profit from them, too.
5. Contribute to the community. Whether it’s pet sitting, grocery delivery, ride sharing, or freelance work, there are many side gig options you can participate in alongside your day-to-day job. Like the habit above, think of the time you spend here being a recharge rather than a responsibility; Pet therapy while dog sitting, meditation while driving, outlet for freelance work.
For many, it just takes a little brainstorming and practice to find financial habits that ‘stick’. Your time is valuable, so why not spend it doing things that will pay you back in more ways than one? You deserve it!
